Revolutionize your summer travel with a trip to Historic Philadelphia, the Headquarters of the American Revolution. Just two blocks from tourism hotspots Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell, the new Museum of the American Revolution—opened in 2017—plunges visitors into the tumult and transformation of the Revolutionary era.
With hundreds of Revolutionary-era artifacts at its core, the museum uses immersive experiences, dynamic theaters, recreated historical moments and interactive digital installations to transport visitors to the 18th century and bring to life the events, people and ideas that created a nation. The museum goes beyond the Founding Fathers to explore the personal stories of the diverse range of individuals who were part of establishing our nation, including women, native people, and free and enslaved people of African descent.
Throughout the summer, families can explore the new Revolution Place discovery center to experience life in 18th-century Philadelphia. On Memorial Day, Flag Day, Father’s Day and throughout the week of the Fourth of July, the Museum will engage all ages in demonstrations, craft activities and special programs. Share how you will #BeTheRevolution by adding a personalized ribbon to a flag-shaped installation on the Museum’s outdoor plaza.
Each month, the Museum’s History After Hours events offer special themed programs, happy hour specials and full exhibit access for only $10. In the summer months, themed events will include “Pride on Paper” on June 18, “Bros and Foes” on July 23, and “Revolutionary Staycation” on August 23.
